THE EFFICIENCY OF GEOPHYSICAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE INVESTIGATION OF REFINERY SLUDGE LAGOONS

Annotation. Geophysical techniques are widely used for investigating of liquid, paste-like and solid waste accumulation facilities of oil refineries due to their ability to operate at various types of surfaces and provide for comprehensive solutions. In addition to composition and structure imaging, geophysical surveys are able to clarify sludge lagoon impacts on soils and groundwater of adjacent area. A number of examples are provided, demonstrating the results of geophysical surveys carried out at lagoons with different types of waste and their periphery.
