PROSPECTS OF ORGANIC WASTE BIOCOMPOSTING AT LOW TEMPERATURES

Annotation. Modern requirements to the sustainable economy and recycling of natural resources necessitate the development and application of effective and environmentally friendly technologies for processing municipal and agro-industrial wastes. Biocomposting is an effective way of utilizing organic waste with obtaining a useful product. The aim of the study is to develop a basic scheme for the implementation of the technology of composting of organic waste in piles for use in low positive temperatures. It is established that aerobic composting of organic wastes in conditions of low temperatures is possible under a number of conditions: providing an optimal ratio of carbon and nitrogen in the selection of raw materials, maintaining the necessary level of moisture and aeration, as well as heating the mixture of composted wastes at the initial stage of the process. Inoculation of the compostable mixture with consortiums of microbial decomposers adapted to low temperatures can accelerate the decomposition of organic components, maintain heat production, and ensure normal startup of the process at low ambient temperatures.

Keywords: organic waste, bioconversion, pile composting, microbial biopreparations, organotrophic microorganisms, low temperatures, cold-resistant microorganisms.
