FEATURES STRUCTURE OF PYRITE CINDERS OF THE OLD DUMP OF THE KIROVGRAD COPPER-SMELTER PLANT

 

Annotation. The internal structure of microparticles was studied in polished sections using a Phillips XL-30 electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive spectrometer within the old dump of pyrite cinders formed during the production of sulfuric acid at the Kirovgrad Copper-Smelting Plant. The internal structure of the globules of pyrite cinders is quite heterogeneous and is determined by a combination of smaller colloidal particles forming dispersed aggregates. These particles contain hematite, magnetite, and quartz, which is confirmed by both their physical properties and chemical composition. The high dispersion of the aggregates implies a high degree of grinding when processing them to open the grains.
