THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF DRILLING FLUIDS TREATMENT WITH ALKALI
Annotation. The article considers: problems arising when drilling wells using drilling fluids water base with a high concentration of hydrogen ions (pH more than 8), the mechanism of swelling of the drilled rocks under the influence of an alkaline reagent, additional costs due to alkalinization of drilling fluids, the negative consequences of the use of alkalis; it is indicated why, despite the obvious negative consequences of alkalinization of water-based drilling fluids, the process of alkalinization of drilling fluids is quite large-scale; it is concluded how it is possible to avoid the use of water-based drilling fluids that require alkali treatment.
